PORTLAND — After a record hot Tuesday in many parts of Maine, more record heat is likely for Wednesday afternoon. Hot temps continue through the end of the week, before rain chances increase this weekend cooling our temps back down.

Wednesday looks very similar to Tuesday. More hot, humid weather is expected, with highs again near 90. Humidity will remain high, feeling more like the low to mid 90s.

Thursday also looks quite hot. Highs will again approach 90 during the afternoon with mainly sunny skies. A few storms likely develop heading into the evening, mainly after sunset, and mainly inland. Some storms could be strong with gusty winds and some hail.

Isolated inland storm chances will also be around on Friday. Many will stay dry, but an inland or mountain storm will again be possible for the afternoon. Temps will still be very warm, in the mid to upper 80s.

The weekend looks a bit cooler and more unsettled. A few showers or storms will be around Saturday, cooler, in the lower 80s.

A more widespread rain arrives Sunday. Highs will drop into the 70s, it looks wet for much of the day with showers and storms off and on.
