The Mechanic Falls Historical Society plans to hold an open house of its collection of materials from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in the downstairs gym of the municipal building at 108 Lewiston St. in Mechanic Falls.

The society recently received a collection of scrapbooks donated by Geneva Meserve which were compiled by her mother, Bonnie Flint, grandmother Thelma Flint, great aunt Edith Raymond, and Edith’s daughter, Ruth Snyder, according to a news release from Eriks Petersons.

This collection is composed of news articles about the community from 1941 until the 1990s. They are cataloged by date and year and can be viewed at the Mechanic Falls Public Library.

For more information, call Petersons at 207-345-3134.
