Gayland Brackett
POLAND – Gayland Brackett passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2023, of pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 12, 1949, the son of R. Maynard and Ethelyn Bryant Brackett.
He served honorably in the U. S. Army in Germany, a red eye anti-aircraft missile specialist and SP4 expert rifleman from 1969 to 1971. He retired from the Maine Warden Service after 22-plus years of service from October 30, 1972 to June 30, 1995.
He loved to hunt and fish every year with Mike and his nephews. He was a licensed pilot and loved to fly.
Gayland is survived by his wife Dawn Brackett; his daughter Tami and her partner Dave; his grandchildren Brody, Tara, Aiva and Aurora; great grandchild Riley; his brother Vaughn Brackett; his sister Geraldine and her husband Michael Walsh; many, many cousins, nieces and nephews along with his game warden family and many friends. Including his longtime friend Larry Thurlow (Junior).
He was predeceased by his parents: and his brother Errol Brackett.
