It took a while for the Maine Nordiques offense to get going during their season-opening series against the Northeast Generals, but the Nordiques found the back of the net in time to salvage a split of the series at The Colisee in Lewiston with a win Saturday night.

After dropping their season opener 2-1 on Friday night, the Nordiques turned the tables and won Saturday night’s game 6-3.

It was the first NAHL win for new Nordiques head coach Nick Skerlick.

The game was scoreless until Jake Bernadet gave Maine a 1-0 lead early in the second period. Kellen Murphy and David Helledy assisted on the goal, which stood as the lone tally into the second intermission.

Shane Kozlina made it a 2-0 game, thanks to assists from Falmouth native Camden Charron and Seth Murch, with 15:11 remaining, but Frank D’Ancona got the Generals on the board 53 seconds later to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Murphy grabbed momentum back for Maine 37 seconds later to make it 3-1. Cole Hipkin and Charron assisted.
