AUBURN — Lewiston-Auburn Senior College programs are scheduled to be held this fall at the Auburn Public Library at 49 Spring St.
There will be a new topic presented each week, starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, with “Demon Foods: Are your Favorite Foods Killing you?”
Chef Larry Canepa will be the featured speaker.
Canepa’s talk will be about foods grown for shelf life and transport, saturated in toxic chemicals, and generally not great for actual consumption when it comes to nutrient value, according to a news release from Diane Clay, Senior College Board. This “foodtainment” presentation will examine the current crazes, diets, fads, fact and fiction of “demon foods.”
Foods and snacks of yesteryear and the foods of the future will be explored.
Canepa, a certified culinary educator, presents classes on food and culture on Zoom. His motto is “to eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.”
This presentation is free and open to the public; there is no need to register.
