Aug. 25 marked a special day in Waterford on the Flat, where a fountain that hasn’t flowed for 100 years was rejuvenated and turned on.
Townspeople were invited to throw in a class of water to celebrate the return of the fountain, according to a news release from resident Al Struck.
The fountain, now owned by Greg and Patti Tingley, has a new lease on life. About a month ago the Tinleys started digging out the base of the fountain. Then they ordered a liner to keep the water in the basin.
Greg replaced granite blocks around the top to hold the liner, and people in the village brought rocks with family names on them to fill in spaces between the pieces of granite.
