Dwight Orland Harris
GREENE – Dwight Orland Harris, 82, passed away on Tuesday Sept. 12, 2023, at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Lewiston, a son of the late Charles and Doris (Newton) Harris. He attended the local school and then worked as a carpenter and then a much-loved bus drive for SAD52, for 48 years. He married the love of his life, Carol Ann Fish, and they were married for 54 years.
He loved to work with wood and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was the only family member to love the New York Yankees
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Charles and Doris Harris; son, Dale Harris; his brothers Wendall, Charles, and Dana Harris; and his son-in-law, David Guedry
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann (Fish) Harris; his four-legged friend, Zoey, who was considered his child; his children, Dana Harris and his wife Dianne, Dean Harris, Tammy Guedry, Kelly Brigham and husband Nick, daughter-in-law, Debbie Harris; his brothers Malcom Harris and his wife Barbara, John Harris and his wife Sue, Clifford Harris and Shelia, sister-in-law, Beatrice Morse; grandchildren, Alex and Amanda Harris, Tia and Kevin McCulley, Ashley and Peter Schmidt, Ben Harris; great-grandchildren, Liam, Wyatt and Jackson McCulley, Fallon Brigham, Kaiden, Calvin, Isaac Harris, Nathan, and Alyssa Schmidt.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for the outstanding care of Dwight.
The family will be great friends on Friday Sept. 15 from 5 to 6 p.m. with a funeral service at 6 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 26 W Dwinal St. Mechanic Falls. Burial will take place on Saturday Sept. 16, at 9:30 a.m. with military honors at Valley Cemetery in Greene on Route 202. The family will hold a reception (potluck) at 11 a.m. at Androscoggin Grange in Greene.
