LEWISTON — Kevin Boilard announces his bid for the Ward 4 Lewiston School Committee seat.

He is president of the nonprofit Kaydenz Kitchen Food Pantry and serves on the Healthy Neighborhoods board of directors. Through his work with the organizations, he has helped provide resources for families in need, he said.
His campaign slogan is Collaboration, Accountability, Responsibility and Engagement, or CARE.
Boilard said he believes everyone should collaborate with parents, students and teachers to ensure goals are met for students. People need to have a sense of responsibility for creating a beneficial and safe environment for students, and he believes people need to ensure all parties are engaged in student processes and successes.
“Parents need to be involved in planting the seed of expectations and allow teachers an opportunity to water that seed to grow,” he said.
The education system needs to be based on the best interest of the students, he said. Boilard envisions a School Committee built on the best interests of the students and their ability to succeed.
Biolard is a lifelong Lewiston resident, along with his wife and daughter.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
