Noella G. Gauthier
CAPE ELIZABETH – Noella G. Gauthier, 90, formerly of Lewiston, passed away at Cape Memory Care Tuesday Sept. 5, 2023.
She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 21, 1932, the daughter of Zephirin and Lucienne (Ouellette) Mailhot. She lived her entire life in Lewiston. The following quote, written in her high school yearbook described her perfectly: “Well-timed silence hath more eloquence than speech” (Martin Farquhar Tupper). She was a devout and loyal servant to her God until the end. Those who knew her are truly blessed.
Survivors include her three daughters, Celine Gauthier of Biddeford, Joline Woodhead of Wells, Sue Sampson and husband, Stan of Turner; her four grandchildren, Travis Gauthier, Ashley Austin, Meghan Hamilton, and Angela Hinton; as well as seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Jeannine Mcgraw and husband Norman of Lewiston; and a very special niece, Denise Chevrette of Rhode Island.
She was predeceased by her son, Andy Gauthier; her sisters Jeanne D’Arc Dozois, and Gisele Gilbert, as well as her brother, Roger Mailhot.
A Memorial Mass honoring Noella’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 26 at Sacred Heart Church. Committal to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be Monday Sept. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
