Donald Lachapelle
AUBURN – Donald Lachapelle, 71, of Spring Street, Auburn, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023.
Don was born on Feb. 28, 1952, in Lewiston. He graduated from Leavitt Area High School in 1970, and then served in the Army in Korea. He retired from Bath Iron Works in 2013 from a supervisory position.
He is survived by his two daughters, Allison (Robert) Chapman of Lewiston and Amanda Lachapelle and partner of eight years, Bill Miller of San Carlos, Calif. He also has two grandchildren, Robbie and Madeline, whom he loved dearly.
Don was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Rachel (Cripps) Lachapelle; and his sister, Linda and brother, Joseph (Cheryl) Lachapelle Jr.
He is survived by sisters Nancy Donnell and Elaine (Lorenzo) Leblond, as well as brothers David (Brenda) Lachapelle, James (Carol) Lachapelle and Ed Lachapelle.
Don enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, John Wayne movies, socializing at the local Lewiston-Auburn establishments with friends, as well as an occasional cold beverage.
Relatives and friends are invited to join at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Pinette Funeral Home in Lewiston, and a funeral procession will take place, traveling to the Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta where a Military Honors Service will be held at 12 p.m. Interested parties can participate in either one or both. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
