An evening of live music featuring An Anderson, Liam Grant, and Cold Creeps will be presented from 7:30-9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at LA Arts in Lewiston.

An Anderson are an instrumental rock band formed in Maine in 2012. They’ve often drawn inspiration from disparate influences including ‘90s math and noise rock, Early music, black metal, and electronic music. In 2015 they released their first full length LP Very Machine. Bangor Daily News wrote, “…it’s certainly a modern indulgence that Mainers can witness An Anderson, the thrillingly complex four-piece instrumental unit that raised its own bar with this one-track, 35-minute album.” After 10 years and three records, An Anderson have shifted their focus from frenetic and often abrasive noise rock to their own style of polyrhythmic dance music. While maintaining many of their post-punk inspired elements, instrumentation now includes two full drum sets, electric guitar, and bass. Their performances are a continuous flow of evolving polyrhythms and odd meters.

Liam Grant is an acoustic guitar player with a punk ethos, cut from the American Primitive cloth. He made his debut in 2021 with his album “Swung Heavy: Gitarr for Fanatics,” released through the Sound-O-Mat label, which was met with seemingly endless touring through 2022. A split 7in single with Mike Gangloff of the veteran improvisers, Pelt, was released in January 2023, and his full-length LP “Amoskeag” is in the process of being released through Carbon Records. Grant states that his mission is “to bring fine Country Bluegrass, Ragtime and Blues plus other music for discerning listeners to a modern audience.” He has been praised as a “generational talent” and his music has received accolades in many publications.
