LEWISTON – Jeanne C. Vaillancourt, 90, of Lewiston and formerly of New Auburn, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on Sept. 6, 1933, she was the daughter of George and Regina Gauthier Roux. Educated locally, she married Robert L. Vaillancourt on June 20, 1957. Mr. Vaillancourt passed away on Aug. 5, 2001. Jeanne worked within the community as a hairstylist for 40 years. Known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh, she also loved to travel, especially to Rome and Israel. She was an accomplished artist, specializing in landscapes using an oil medium. Jeanne was also very interested in genealogy, and in 1980 became a founding charter member of the Franco-American Genealogical Society. While living in New Auburn she was a member of the New Auburn Seniors, and le Dame De St. Anne at the former St. Louis Parish.
A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by her daughter, June Vaillancourt of Boston and New Auburn, two sisters, Yvonne Roux, and Florence Boulet, sister-in-law Pat Roux, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Reginald (Leo) Roux, Fr. Albert Roux, Paul Roux, and five sisters, Georgette Courchesne, Rita Galipeau, Monique Langlois, Doris Roux, Lucille Tremblay, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church on Monday, September 25, 11 a.m. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
