Anthony “Sonny” Corbin is shaded from the sun Tuesday on his front porch in Lewiston. “I have met a lot of nice people while sitting on this porch,” he said. “The nurses say hello when they walk by and the college kids say hi when they run by.” Corbin, 74, moved to Maine from Baltimore when he was 16. “My mother grew up in Houlton and wanted to move back to Maine. Thank God we did not move to Houlton,” he said. “That’s too far out in the sticks for me.” Corbin said his mother started calling him “Sonny” when he was a kid, and the nickname stuck.
