Edward E. “Eddie” Laverdiere
LEWISTON – Edward E. “Eddie” Laverdiere, 85, a lifelong resident of Lewiston, died on Sept. 20, 2023, of vascular dementia and multiple organ failure. He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 15, 1938, the only child of the late Eduard E. Laverdiere and the late Stephanie (Landry) Laverdiere. He was educated at Holy Family school and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1957.
Eddie retired after 25 years of employment from the City of Lewiston as an electrical operator with the Public Works Department. Eddie also worked for over 20 years for Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shoppes and Marios doing maintenance and deliveries for them. Eddie retired from Sam’s in 2000 after becoming legally blind due to an unforeseen medical event.
Eddie married Doris Bourque in 1968 and later divorced in 1975. Doris had two children by her late husband, a son, Daniel and a daughter, Denise. Eddie remained friends with Doris, her family and her extended family.
Eddie was predeceased by his parents, a close aunt Marguerite (Landry) Jalbert and other relatives.
Eddie is survived by his ex-wife Doris Bourque and her children, Daniel P. Bourque (Deborah) of North Carolina and Denise Bourque Dorey (Duane). His “stepgrandchildren”, Ashley Hallman (Brent) of North Carolina, Heather Atilano of North Carolina, John Sumner Winter, Hannah Bourque (Robert Carver) of North Carolina and Nate Winter. His “step -great grandchildren” , Kloe Belcher, Corrigan Hallman, Sophia Atilano, Leighton Hallman, all of North Carolina.
Eddie is also survived by some very special friends, Phil and Linda Libby, Angel and Marysol Colon, The Colon Family, Jeff and Dena Wing, Chris Childs, Scott Childs, Connie Ouellette and Michelle Hawkins.
We would like to thank Elite Homecare for the years of great care and especially want to thank Michelle H. who has been an irreplaceable caretaker. We would like to also thank Amanda Murphy, Michelle Cyr and the staff of 3 West at D’Youville Pavilion for the care provided to Eddie over the last year and a half. We would also like to thank Lorrie and Steve and the others at Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for their care and support.
There will not be any visiting hours. The funeral is to be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10 a.m., at Holy Family Church with committal at St. Peter’s Cemetery immediately following.
