ALBION — One person was killed and another was injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Albion.
The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. at the corner of Belfast and Unity roads.
Chief Andrew Clark of the Albion Fire Department said the person who died was taken by Albion Fire-Rescue to Northern Light Inland Hospital in Waterville.
The other person was taken from the scene by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter. Clark said Sunday he did not know that patient’s status.
Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office officials could not be reached over the weekend for information on the crash.
With help from Winslow firefighters, Albion rescue workers extricated one patient from one of the vehicles at the crash scene.
Maeghan Maloney, district attorney for Kennebec and Somerset counties, confirmed Sunday that one person had died in the crash and another was injured. She responded to the crash scene Friday evening.
Maloney said one person was taken into custody after the crash. That person is expected to face a charge of causing serious bodily injury or death while license is suspended and to appear Tuesday in court.
