Gerald U. Anctil

LEWISTON – Gerald U. Anctil, 82, of 55 Randall Road, Lewiston, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at Central Maine Medical Center following a short illness. Born in Lewiston on Aug. 10, 1941, he was the son of Ulderic and Lucianna Lemieux Anctil. Educated in local schools, he married the love of his life, Patricia Mercier, on Aug. 14, 1965. Mrs. Anctil passed away on Aug. 15, 2022. Always mechanically inclined and good with his hands, Gerry spent many years working as a mechanic for Larry Stewart’s Auto Sales in Lisbon before going to work at Lee Auto Malls in Auburn. In 1999, he and Patsy moved to Florida, and Gerry went to work for Bob Wilson Dodge in Tampa, Fla.

Always willing to help his neighbors, he became known as the unofficial handyman of Gull Aire Village in Oldsmar, Fla. They moved back to Maine in 2020. Gerry enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.

Survivors include two sons, Kerry Anctil and fiance Jessica Pierce, and Jeffrey Anctil and wife Annette, a granddaughter, Phalen and husband Steven Harris, and two great-grandchildren, Rozlyn and Emerson Harris.

Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by four siblings, Leonard, Ronald, D’Arce, and Lorraine.

Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., with a Liturgy of the Word Service also at the funeral home at 1 p.m., followed by committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
