LEWISTON — The Franco Center is set to host “Fright Night” walks through its crypt on Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 19, 20 and 21, at 46 Cedar St.

The Franco Center has again transformed its basement into a Halloween-themed scary event, complete with costumed actors. Costumed actors and scary props will fill the center’s basement Oct. 19-21. The venue is the crypt of the former St. Mary’s Church at 46 Cedar St., Lewiston. Franco Center photo

The crypt will be open from noon to 5 p.m. each day of the event. During daytime hours, the walk will provide less of a scare than the nightly walk, according to a news release from Denise Scammon at the center.

Each night of the event, trained and costumed actors will play the parts of ghoulish and scary characters whose tasks include scaring crypt visitors.

“Returning this year to our Fright Night walks will be the scariest parts of last year’s event, the stuff that had visitors screaming as they left,” said Franco Center Production Manager Jake Hodgkin. He said the special lighting and sound effects that will accompany the creepy decorations have been upgraded and new features have been added to this year’s event.

Tickets can be purchased at francocenter.org, by phone at 207-689-2000, or at its box office between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Daytime tickets, noon to 5 p.m., in advance cost $10, or $15 at the door.

Nighttime tickets, 6:30-9:30, in advance cost $15, or $20 at the door.

Parking is available in the mill lot. The building is handicap accessible on the Lincoln Street Alley side.
