Robert “Bob” P. Petkers

LEWISTON – Robert “Bob” P. Petkers, 83, of Lewiston and Florida peacefully passed away on Wednesday Sept. 27, 2023, at Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston. He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., on Feb. 2, 1940, a son of the late Martin and Marie (Gill) Petkers. At a young age, his family moved to Maine and he attended local schools in Lewiston. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of 1957. He then went on to earn his Associates Degree from Boston University.

Bob honorably served his country in the Army during the Vietnam conflict and was always very proud of his service. After he was discharged, he married Claire Bonenfant in Lewiston at St. Peter’s Church and they started a family together. During that time, Bob worked for many years as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement.

He will always be remembered for his well spent time attending his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events, his daily trips to Starbucks, attending car shows with his beloved 1973 Corvette Stingray convertible, and his continuous support of all New England sports teams. He will be sadly missed by many.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Claire Petkers of Lewiston, his children; Michelle Gass and her husband Scott of San Francisco, Calif., Rob Petkers and his wife Barbie of Winthrop, and Jon Petkers and his wife Stephanie of Orrs Island. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren; Megan and William Gass, Ava Petkers, and Aaron Petkers; his three step-grandchildren, Jonathan Mervine, Emma and Austin Ayotte and his step-great grandchild Jaxon.

He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. William Petkers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 21, 2023 at 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston followed by committal prayers with Army military honors at St. Peter’s Cemetery also in Lewiston.
