To the Editor:

On Saturday, September 30th, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation as Bethel’s Harvestfest kicked off. The day started with a wonderful Jeep Jamboree parade. On the common, the air was filled with sounds from laughing and smiling children painting pumpkins at Hancock Lumber’s tent.

The music was terrific, with Brad Hooper in the morning, and the Sandy River Ramblers in the afternoon. The Bethel Area Chamber and many essential volunteers cooked burgers, and hotdogs, and served some piping hot baked potatoes for hungry event attendees.

The apple pie contest was great this year. Our three winners were as follows: Traditional – Lucy Carter, Professional – Brian Inkell, Androscoggin Valley Hospital, Non-Traditional – Stephanie Inman.

Touch-a-truck was a huge hit with the young attendees. Thanks to Countryside Landscaping, Bennett Automotive & Power Equipment, and Irving Oil for bringing trucks and tractors. Wagon rides took place up and down Main Street, thanks to The Good Food Store and Deepwood Farm.

A major thanks to our presenting sponsor Hancock Lumber for making this day possible. We can’t forget about our other wonderful sponsors: Mainely Provisions, Northeast Bank, Irving Oil, Countryside Landscaping, Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy, Stephens Memorial Hospital, Coca-Cola Beverages Northeast, Rusty Lantern Market, Sunday River Farms, Good Food Store & Catering Company, Smokin’ Good BBQ, and Bennett Automotive & Power Equipment.
