DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Hartford Heritage Society will host a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hartford Town Hall, Main Street/Route 140 in Hartford, on Saturday, Oct. 28. We have 17-plus venders. Come and join us for some early Christmas shopping, some great craft ideas and great food. Lunches will be sold.

You do a great job of getting lots of information out to the public and it is all greatly appreciated. We shut down for the winter and won’t have any other functions until our spring plant sale in May. — No name, Hartford

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for all you do to help churches and other nonprofits promote their activities and fundraising. The annual Christmas Fair at Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the Green Church) at 163 Main St. will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. It will be held on the lower level of the church, which is handicapped-accessible by using the elevator entrance on Mitchell Street.

The fair will feature a sale of baked goods and treats, including containers of take-home comfort foods. Handmade crafts and gift items will be on sale. Attic treasures have returned this year and will include books and puzzles. Nov. 4 will be the final day to purchase tickets for the raffle of the church’s handmade quilt. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. Calendars for an Advent calendar raffle with 34 chances to win will be on sale for $10 each. The ever-popular brown bag raffle will feature an array of delightful and valuable items.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., offering a choice of chicken soup or corn chowder with a biscuit, apple crisp with ice cream and a beverage for $7. At 1 p.m. in the church parking lot, Pastor John Hogue will offer the Blessing of the Animals. Everyone in the community is invited to bring their pets, real ones or stuffed ones to receive a blessing.

The fair will close with drawings for the quilt and brown bag raffle items. — Carol, Mexico
