For a long time I have accepted the fact of term limits for U.S. presidents and felt it should also apply to all members of Congress.
Recently an effort was made by a committee in the House to start an effort which would lead to legislation in regard to term limits. It failed to pass, and I found myself smiling rather than weeping.
Yes, this means in some states the voters will continue to reelect “duds,” but not in Maine (Bruce Poliquin vs. Jared Golden). The real point is that it is up to the “people.” In fact, it is very much our total responsibility as a U.S. citizen to truly study the candidates and, yes, regardless of party, vote.
If we all make this our goal, we will be represented by the “wheat” and remove the “chaff.”
