Summer in this corner of western Maine is jam packed with events, fun outings, and activities and 2023 was no exception.  Labor Day weekend may be the official end of summer but for the Rangeley Alumni Association it means YARD SALE!

The Alumni sale held on September 2nd was both successful and fun! Perfect weather brought out eager buyers along with hard-working new and seasoned volunteers ending in a close to sold out sale with nearly $3,000 raised for the Alumni Scholarship Fund.  The sale is held annually on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend at 2632 Main Street in Rangeley featuring household goods, sporting equipment, toys and furniture.  All items offered for sale are donated throughout the year, collected, and stored by Alumni Association volunteers in preparation for the next sale.  On sale day, volunteers move items from storage to the sale site where buyers name the price on most items offered. Those same volunteers donate select leftover goods to area residents expressing a need and move the remaining pieces back into storage for next year. Goods are accessible throughout the year and available to local families faced with unexpected hardship such as forced relocation, house fire, or other challenge.  Sale proceeds are used exclusively to fund Alumni Association Scholarships awarded to qualifying Rangeley graduates.

Thank you, Rangeley region for your part in assuring that Rangeley graduates receive the help they need to succeed.  Each Alumni Association officer and director graduated from Rangeley Schools and are proud to volunteer their time and energy to give back to the local community.  To donate goods or volunteer for the next sale contact sale coordinator Leeanna Wilbur @ 864-2283.
