Donald William Agren
AUBURN – Donald William Agren, 73 of Auburn, returned home to God on Oct. 11, 2023. He was treated and cared for complications from COPD, pneumonia and Sepsis at St Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.
Don was born on Jan. 17, 1950 in Norway, the youngest child of Samuel and Leah Agren. Don grew up on a dairy farm in North Auburn where he enjoyed fresh whole milk and exploring nature. He developed a love for mechanics through working on his first car, rebuilding the engine giving each part its own color.
Don fell in love with his wife of 53 years, Linda at the age of 17. They were married on Aug. 15, 1970 and together built an amazing family with their children Julie, Jessica and Kristopher.
In 1973 Don took his love for mechanics to the next level and created Agren Appliance Service Company which he owned and operated until his failing health in December 2022. Don loved being able to help his customers fix the old instead of buying the new, while making things affordable as he greatly respected the value of broken things needing a little TLC.
Don enjoyed life in so many ways and was fortunate to have had so many experiences including: Snowmobiling, ocean trips on his Sea Ray, trips to many destinations and family gatherings with his beloved grandchildren Cassie, Adam, Sara, Emma, Nick and Ben of whom he was so proud.
His love for animals, his long-winded jokes and stories will be greatly missed yet carried on by his family and friends. We thank him for the memories and hope to continue to make him proud.
Don is survived by wife. Linda; daughter, Julie and husband Bob, daughter, Jess; six grandchildren, Cassie, Adam, Sara, Emma, Nick and Ben; sister, Carol, brother, Douglas and wife Claudette, sisters-in-law Rita Raymond, Betty Dallaire and Lorraine Obie; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his beloved son, Kris; his parents Sam and Leah, mother-in-law, Melvina Obie; niece, Sarah; brothers-in-law, George Raymond, Normand Dallaire and Buster (Gerard) Obie, nephew, James Raymond, Sr.
Services will be held on Nov. 2 at the St Peters Chapel on 31 Deer Rd. in Lewiston at 2 p.m. followed by the committal and prayers in the Mausoleum.
