Robert G. Desbiens

SABATTUS – Robert G. Desbiens, 86, of Sabattus passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday Oct. 24, 2023.

He was born in Lewiston on May 19, 1937, a son of the late Gerard and Laurianne (Saindon) Desbiens. He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools.

After high school, Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his return from military service, he worked for many years as a glass installer and maintenance worker at Androscoggin Bank.

Robert will always be remembered for his love of volunteering, coaching little league, socializing, playing cribbage, bowling and golfing with his friends. He will be sadly missed by many friends and family as well as his furry little guard and nursemaid, Toby.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Desbiens of Sabattus; his children, Debra and husband Jody Bridges, and Mike Desbiens and his wife Claudia. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Megan, Grant, Catlin, Page and Sophia, along with three stepsons, two stepdaughters; 10 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Paul; and his former spouses Jennie and Doris.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday Nov. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls on Thursday Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. followed by committal prayers with military honors at St. Peter’s Cemetery (large mausoleum) in Lewiston.
