Members of the First Universalist Church of West Paris plan to gather at 9 a.m. Sundays for worship services at 208 Main St.

Refreshments will follow services, and all are welcome, according to a news release from the church.

• Nov. 5, “To Go or Not to Go” will be led by the Worship Service Committee about why people do or do not go to church.

• Nov. 12, “Good Enough” will be led by Marilyn Hammond, who has spoken at the church many times. She is a member of the South Paris Universalist Church. She will talk about looking at finding joy, meaning, and satisfaction in the life one already has and the person they already are.

• Nov. 19, “Gratitude” will be led by the Rev. Linda Couture. She will include some words about Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving. Couture is a licensed pastor in the United Church of Christ, Maine Conference. She is the pastor at the West Paris Mission Congregational Church UCC. She offers creative workshops that combine creativity and connection to the spirit within everyone.

• Nov. 26, “Poetry” will be led by Maine’s Poet Laureate, Julia Bouwsma. She lives in the mountains of western Maine, where she is a poet, homesteader, editor, teacher and small-town librarian. Bouwsma is Maine’s sixth Poet Laureate, serving a term from 2021 to 2026, and the author of two poetry collections, “Midden” and “Work by Bloodlight,” both of which have received the Maine Literary Award for Poetry Book. She has taught in the Creative Writing Department at the University of Maine at Farmington and serves as the library director for Webster Library in Kingfield.
