LEWISTON — After receiving many calls about gunfire downtown Sunday night, police found shell casings and property damage caused by gunfire in the area of a multiunit building at 116 Walnut St.

There is no indication that anyone was hurt, but some vehicles and the building were hit.

Police said the first report came in at 9:42 p.m. Officers were on the scene for at least two and a half hours.

The police said they are investigating the incident and have asked the public for any information. People may call (207) 513-3001 to report anything that may be linked to the incident.
