Milton Edgar Inman

LEWISTON – Milton Edgar Inman, 93, passed away Oct. 25, 2023, at Marshwood Center. He was born in West Paris on Aug. 6, 1930, the son of Walter Louie Inman and Roxanna (Baker) Inman. He graduated from West Paris High School in 1948. Milt married Eleanor Faye Proctor on June 27, 1954. He started his career in local feldspar mines for Bell Minerals, Inc. He worked in the 1960’s and early 1970’s building custom fireplaces with his brother, Vernon Inman, as Inman Brothers Masonry. Milt worked at Mt. Abram Ski Slopes during the winter months. In his retirement, he and Eleanor worked at the Trackside Camping Area at the Fryeburg Fair for over 20 years. Milton was a 64-year member of the fire services in Greenwood and West Paris. He was a lifelong member of the West Paris Universalist Church, and a Charter Member of the West Paris Historical Society. Milt was aTroop #132 Scout Leader guiding his sons and many other boys in learning outdoor life skills. Milton and others organized the West Paris Soapbox racing program that involved many girls and boys. Milton was recognized in 2022 by the Town of West Paris and Oxford County with a Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award. Milton and Eleanor travelled to all states except Hawaii. They especially loved the many trips to Alaska. In later years Milt and Eleanor spent winters in Plant City, Florida. He was a lifelong outdoorsman, fly fisherman, avid photographer, and enjoyed painting. Milton leaves three sons: Gary Inman and wife Lesley Rowse, granddaughters Caili and Ani; Gregg and wife Dixie, granddaughters Audrey and Abby; and Geffrey and wife Heidi, granddaughters Heather and Teresa. He had 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Eleanor, his parents, brothers Vernon and Byron, and great-grandson Callan. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at the west Paris Unitarian Church 208 South Main Street West Paris.

In lieu of flowers Milton had asked to donate to the West Paris Universalist Church.
