Fernande D. Lemelin

AUBURN – Fernande D. Lemelin, 94, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at Schooner Estates on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, with family by her side.

Fernande was born on Jan. 8, 1929, a daughter to Ulric and Anne (Bradbury) Dionne. She was raised in Lewiston and attended Lewiston schools.

She met her future husband Gerry and the two were married on July 3, 1948.

In her working years, she spent time as an inspector for Philips Elmet before starting her family.

Fernande loved reading, knitting and cooking and was well known for her lasagna. She had a big heart and cared for everyone around her. She even brought home cooked meals to her elderly neighbors to ensure they were well taken care of. She enjoyed frequenting foxwoods, Tim Hortons, family gatherings and fun weekends at Allen Pond with Gemma, Bert and Maryanne.

She was a proud member of the Holy Family Church and the Ladies of St. Anne.

Fernande is predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Gerry, her son Stanley, her sisters, Annie (Tiny), May and Carmen, as well as her half-brothers Rosario, Ronaldo, Felix and Armand.

She leaves behind her son Bertrand and wife Rachel Lemelin, her grandson Christopher Lemelin, daughter in law Liz (Elizabeth) Burleigh, her sister Pauline, brother Robert as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, both past and present at Schooner Estates and Androscoggin Home Health who gave Fernande incredible care during her time there.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, from 2-4 p.m., at The Fortin Group in Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 13, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church, with Committal Prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
