Normand E. Michaud
LEWISTON – Normand E. Michaud, 85, of Lewiston passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at CMMC in Lewiston.
Normand, fondly known as Norm, was born a son to the late Elzebert and Maria (Lessard) Michaud on Aug. 20, 1938, in Lewiston. He was a General Contractor with over 70 years of construction experience, who built his own home and took great pride in his work. His motto was always, “If you’re going to do it, do it right or don’t do it at all.”
Along with mastering his woodworking skills, he was a connoisseur bread maker. He learned from his mom how to make fresh baked bread from scratch and would share his delicious loaves with the people he loved. He would often take his family on day trips for sight-seeing adventures, go to the beach to enjoy a day in the sun or visit his large French-Canadian family of two brothers and six sisters. He was a hard worker who took pride in his work, and always tried to help his less fortunate neighbors with any household projects they needed.
He was a military veteran who served in the Army for three years overseas in LaRochelle, France as a crane operator and French translator for Army officers.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeannette (LeBlanc) Michaud. His son, Luke R. Michaud, daughter Tina M. Michaud and granddaughter, Careen Michaud. He also leaves behind his two brothers: Antonio Michaud and Andy Michaud as well as his six sisters: Rita (Michaud) Parent; Carmen (Michaud) De-Giovanni; Laurette (Michaud) Sutton, Yvette Michaud; Terry (Michaud) Parker; Anita (Michaud) Delekto; 15 nieces and nephews. Norm was predeceased by his brother Leo Michaud, brothers-in-law, Jack De-Giovanni and Zenon Belair and sister-in-law, Jackie Michaud.
