DEAR SUN SPOTS: There will be a Salvation Army Toy Drive starting at 11 a.m. Friday at the Auburn Mall. Please bring an unwrapped toy to put under the Christmas tree and stop by to  join us for Christmas carols. See any Red Hat Lady by the tree. – Jacquie, no town

ANSWER: Another L-A tradition is happening due to volunteers who love serving our community. This is especially meaningful for those who don’t have their own children to buy for. Choosing a toy and adding it to the pile under the tree feels wonderful.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, the Oxford Hills community is invited to share a meal with family, neighbors and friends at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway. The dinner will be served in the parish center at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 32 Paris St. in Norway.

Dinner will begin with a blessing at noon and food will be served family-style by a friendly waitstaff. Guests will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, squash, and a variety of other vegetables, followed by a choice of homemade pies, all at no charge.

There is ample parking behind the church on Beal Street and handicapped access to the hall.

To help with an approximate count of attendees, call St. Catherine of Sienna Church at 743-2606. There will be a delivery service for shut-ins. Please inform the church if you know of someone in need who will be unable to get to the dinner. — Sandy, no town

ANSWER: This makes my heart happy as there are so many who don’t have family near by or don’t have the capability to cook a turkey and make all the trimmings. Thanksgiving is one of those days where we need to create our own family by gathering with others and sharing food and love.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in response to the person needing reusable grocery bags for their food pantry (Nov. 14 Sun Spots). SHAREcenter, a nonprofit organization in Lewiston, has hundreds of these bags. You may contact me at 344-8485 to get more information about the bags and talk with someone about how we can help. — Pat, Auburn

ANSWER: Thank you, Pat! I’m thrilled that another local organization can fill a need in the community. I hope our reader gets in touch. Folks can also contact the SHARECenter at Lrodrigues@auburnschl.edu.
