Philip Irving Perkins
AKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – Philip Irving Perkins, known to his friends as “Pappy” and to his grandchildren as “Bumpa”, passed away on Nov. 2, 2023, at the age of 88 in Avista Senior Living Center in Lake Havasu City, Ariz, with family by his side.
Philip was born in Lynn, Mass. on Feb. 5, 1935, to parents Alexander Perkins and Flora Shaw.
Philip enlisted in the US Navy in 1952 and served our country for eight years until he was honorably discharged on Sept. 17, 1960. After his discharge, he worked for Easton Die and Androscoggin Die Co. in Auburn as well as a volunteer firefighter in Oxford. He also worked at Hannaford Supermarket where he retired.
Philip married his loving wife Frances A. (MacNeill) Perkins on Sept. 18, 1954 in Lynn, Mass., shared six children and were married for 68 wonderful years.
Philip enjoyed spending time with family, watching football, baseball, and watching The Western Channel.
Philip was a member of the Oxford Fire Department, Anderson Staples American Legion Post #112, the Order of Eastern Star, and was a Mason.
Philip is preceded in death by his wife; Frances, his parents; Alexander and Flora, son David, and three sisters.
He is survived by his children Philip Perkins Jr (Janice) of Oxford, James Perkins (Maxine) of Auburn, William Perkins (Allison) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Beverly Farrington (Bruce) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.., and Mary Jane Vachon (Donald) of Sabattus; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
A celebration of life is planned for the spring.
