Maine democratic women are making extensive plans for the “School of Democracy and Institution of Politics” which will open Portland December 4.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Robert T. Tiner Jr., a nine year member of the Auburn Police Department was promoted Tuesday to the rank of Captain.

Tiner, who joined the APD August 10, 1964, now becomes second in command in the department under Police Chief Peter Madore. An ELHS graduate, Capt. Tiner served five years in the Marine Corps. He has completed numerous enforcement training courses, has been an instructor in many police training courses and earlier this year graduated from the FBI National Academy at Quantico, VA, the only member of the Auburn Police Department to have that distinction.

25 Years Ago: 1998

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will sponsor “The Price is Right”, its annual fundraiser at 6pm Saturday at ELHS. Mitch Thomas will emcee and the proceeds will benefit homeless animals.
