GREENVILLE — The man who authorities say assaulted a Waterville police officer last weekend and was involved in multiple vehicle thefts in Somerset County was arrested in Greenville late Tuesday, according to Greenville police.

Ricki M. Gould, 28, was apprehended after police located him and a woman he was traveling with at a vacant camp on Lily Bay Road in Greenville, police said.

Gould and the woman, identified as Ashlyn Marie Libby, 32, each was charged with burglary and being in possession of scheduled drugs, Greenville police said in a Facebook post.

Greenville officers were assisted by the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office in surrounding the camp. Gould and Libby did not comply with repeated orders to come out of the camp and a team eventually entered the structure and took them into custody “without incident,” police said.

Gould, a transient who most recently lived in Corinna, also is facing charges that include theft by receiving stolen property, assault on an officer and refusing to submit to arrest or detention, according to Waterville police and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office. Somerset County online jail records indicate Libby is facing an additional charge of robbery.

Gould and Libby were being held Thursday at the Somerset County Jail. Gould was being held without bail and Libby’s cash bail was set at $50,000.

Waterville police Chief William Bonney previously said Gould assaulted Officer Josh Medeiros early Saturday when Medeiros spotted a stolen Toyota Tacoma parked at a Circle K gas station on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville. Libby was either passed out or sleeping in the pickup, which had been reported stolen out of Somerset County, and Gould was standing outside when Medeiros approached, Bonney said. Gould then assaulted the officer, leading him to be hospitalized with a broken bone and a concussion, according to Bonney.

Gould and Libby also are suspected of stealing a vehicle in St. Albans on Tuesday morning.

Somerset County sheriff’s deputies responded to that theft and several law enforcement agencies were involved in the search for the pair, according to Somerset County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell.

Investigators have linked Gould to multiple vehicle thefts in Somerset County, Mitchell said Tuesday.
