Maine Master Naturalists Leigh Macmillen Hayes and Dawn Wood plan to lead Wednesday Wanders for Loon Echo Land Trust beginning Dec. 6.

The snowshoe treks in the woods will continue until at least March, with the main focus being mammal tracking, according to a news release from Maggie Lynn with the trust, based in Bridgton.

The Loon Echo Land Trust will start its Wednesday Wanders group on Dec. 6. Submitted photo

Depending on conditions, Wednesday Wanders will take place every other week from 10 a.m. to noon for adults, and from 12:30- 1:30 p.m. for families. Locations will vary and be announced to those who sign up prior to the event.

The events are free, but registration is required as space is limited for both sessions.

Snowshoes (a few pairs are available to borrow, or a pair can be loaned from a local library), layers of warm clothing, hand warmers, water and a snack are necessary.

The group won’t move quickly and probably won’t move far as it tries to identify the creators of the prints and the stories they leave behind in the snow.
