100 Years Ago: 1923

The women of the Auburn YMCA Auxiliary held a large and pleasing meeting this week at the building when six new members were taken in. Any woman of the twin cities who has connections who are members of the organization will be warmly welcomed into this auxiliary. At present the women are refurnishing the kitchen and making it unusually attractive. Their object is to help the men in those things which are done capably only by women, and it is found to be of great necessity.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Telephone Co. personnel held a highly successful Christmas party at the East Auburn Community Center last Saturday night.

A catered buffet supper was enjoyed and music was provided for dancing. Retired employees were invited as guests and those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Parsons of South Paris, Miss Verna Howard, Miss Theo Lunt, Miss Frances Jones and Mrs. Helen Tarr, all of Lewiston and Auburn.

The planning committee included Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lyons, Ralph Sylvester, Georgette Blais, Cathy Westleigh, Ernest Swift and Jean Roy.

25 Years Ago: 1998

“A Maritime History of Maine” and “Lobstering and the Coast” and “Percy and the Small Shipyard” all continuing exhibits and “Ray Small: Half Hulled Models,” “Photographs and Memorabilia of Local Sailing” will be featured through February 14, in Bath at the Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St.
