100 Years Ago: 1923

Officer Dan Crowley of Lewiston stopped a runaway horse on Lincoln Street, yesterday afternoon at the corner of Cedar Street. The horse had become frightened and ran a considerable distance, narrowly missing some other vehicles before it was stopped. The harness and wagon were damaged somewhat. Officer Crowley is being commenced for his daring in halting the onrushing steed.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Susan M. Rogers of 14 Brault St. has become the first woman from Lewiston to enlist in the Air Force in the aircraft maintenance field. She entered the Air Force last Thursday.

Airman Rogers is a 1969 graduate of Lewiston High School and a 1973 graduate of the University of Maine, Orono. She graduated from Maine with distinction.

Miss Rogers chose the aircraft maintenance field for her guaranteed job in the Air Force. After completing the School of Military Sciences at Lackland AFB, near San Antonio, Tex., she will attend an aircraft maintenance course at Chanute AFB, in Illinois.

25 Years Ago: 1998

The Lisbon Rotary Club will meet at 7 am Tuesday, Dec 15 at the Midtown Diner, Midtown Shopping Center. The guest speaker will be Mark Stevens, head of the Lisbon Recreation Department, who will review plans for the new teen center.
