Delores V. Mowat
MEXICO – Delores V. Mowat, 86, passed away on Dec. 9, 2023, with her family by her side at her home in Mexico after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Mexico, Maine on June 5, 1937, the daughter of George and Ferdona Spaulding Young. She attended Mexico schools and graduated from Mexico High School in 1954.
She married Thomas A. Mowat Sr on June 11th, 1955, started building their home in Mexico and began their family. It is at this home where she enjoyed being in her vegetable garden, tending to her flower beds and all of her raspberry and lilac bushes, and spending time out back in her ‘forest’. She also loved spending time in the past up to camp in Rangeley and Andover. Over the years, she has also devoted extensive time and research to genealogy, donating her work to history houses and helping people from all over the world find information on their family history.
She will be remembered for so many things but most certainly for her very giving heart, for all of her goodies (especially her jam and puff pastries) that she shared with everyone and for everything she did to take care of her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Becky Fontaine (Darren Blanchard) and Beth Bourassa (Erik) of Mexico; three granddaughters, Ashley Rich of Mexico, Megan Fontaine Neary (Mark) of Norway and Kaylee Bourassa of Aliquippa, Pa.; two great-grandsons, Cole Theriault and Clayton Rich of Mexico; four sisters, Noreen Milledge (John) of Mexico, Sheila Weld (Bruce) of Dixfield, Dona St. Cyr (Richard) of Delaware and Joette Carlton of Hebron.
She was predeceased by her husband, her son Thomas A. Mowat Jr, her parents, and two brothers, Steward Young Sr and Gary Young.
