Irene (Bisson) Seeley Dorr

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – Irene Dorr of North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Dec. 14, 2023 in Florida, at the age of 92. She was born July 31, 1931, in Rumford.

Irene was the daughter of Aime Bisson and Jeanne Grenier Bisson, and beloved wife of the late James “Harpo” Seeley and the late Samuel Dorr.

Irene grew up in Rumford, attended St. John’s Elementary School, and graduated from Stephens High School in 1950.

She worked at the Oxford Paper Company in Rumford for several years. She married James Seeley. They moved to Wallingford, Conn. where they both worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in New Haven, Conn. James passed away in 1976.

Years later, she married Samuel Dorr in Connecticut. After retiring from Pratt and Whitney, they moved to the retirement community of TaraWoods in North Fort Myers, Fla.

Irene loved ballroom dancing, singing in a chorus, playing cards and Dominoes. She was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed participating in many special events at TaraWoods.

Irene was preceded in death by her husbands; her brother, Rosaire Bisson and his wife Lola, sister, Aurore Brown and her husband Harold, sister, Lucienne Royce and her husband Dexter, and sister, Simonne Rafuse.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Seeley, of Putney, Vt., her son, Wayne Seeley of New York; seven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Richard Rafuse, husband of Irene’s sister, the late Simonne Rafuse of Rumford. She is also survived by a special niece, Jean Violette, who helped secure alternative living accommodations and medical support for Irene over the past few years.

Irene was a communicant of the Good Shepherd Church in North Fort Myers, Fla. Funeral Services will be held at a later date.
