Robbie Walker grabs free Christmas trees Wednesday at Wallingford’s Fruit House in Auburn to feed eight goats at his farm in Turner. Wallingford’s posted on its Facebook page that all leftover trees were free for the taking, so Walker took a trailer full. “They love it,” Walker said about the sweet taste of Christmas tree sap. “It saves me an obscene amount of hay.” This past summer was a terrible year for hay farmers because of the wet weather, so having the trees is nice, he said.
