BETHEL — BAAM at The Gem is excited to welcome The Ultimate Johnny Cash performing “Late & Alone” on Saturday, January 13 at 7 p.m. Come dressed as the Man in Black! This show is rescheduled, originally planned for October 2023.

Moreau will not only be performing for BAAM at The Gem; he will also be visiting Telstar Middle School music classes and guest-starring at BAAM’s Youth Open Stage on Thursday, January 11. He will play a song or two for participants as well as provide feedback and tips for being a professional performer. The Ultimate Johnny Cash, also known as Scott Moreau is from Litchfield, ME, and has traveled the world performing as Johnny Cash for nearly a decade.

In 2012, he wrote an original show, Walkin’ The Line based on interviews, anecdotes, and portions of Johnny’s autobiography Cash, featuring more than 25 of Johnny’s best-loved songs. He has performed this show with some of the best musicians in the business in upstate New York, Quebec City, Montreal, Phoenix, and the M Casino in Las Vegas. He has also worked with some of the best Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley tribute artists in the nation in Memphis Legends and Johnny and Jerry Lee: Together Again.

Scott’s true one-man tribute to Johnny made its World Premiere at New York City’s famed Feinstein’s/54 Below in 2018. ‘Late And Alone’ features all of Johnny’s hits and some deeper dives into the Man’s music, as well as more in-depth stories about Johnny’s life. It spans nearly 50 years of his musical life, featuring songs from his American Recordings including his iconic epitaph, Hurt.

Scott Moreau holds a BFA in Music Theatre from Illinois Wesleyan University. After a lifelong dream of being a professional baseball player, Scott turned to the stage after seeing a life-changing performance of Les Misérables in London during his freshman year of high school.

Through his years in high school and college, he found a love for not only musical theatre but choral singing, directing, sound design, and stage combat. “Scott Moreau steps into Cash’s boots and they are the perfect fit… Moreau has discovered a way to evoke the essence of the American icon without performing an all-out impersonation. He nails the dual personality described in Johnny’s own words: ‘Johnny is the nice one. Cash causes all the trouble.”
— Bill Hirschman, Florida Theater On Stage
