Jeffrey Kreidler helped the Twin City Thunder snap a five-game losing streak.

The first-year goalie made 46 saves in a 3-0 shutout against the South Shore Kings at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn on Friday.

“Kreidler played amazing. He made some really big saves — that’s a really good hockey team,” Thunder coach Dan Hodge said. “We were lucky to get some bounces and get the win. But yeah, Kreidler played well.”

Antonio Arcaroli scored his first goal since joining the Thunder from the Rockets Hockey Club nearly two minutes into the first period to give the Thunder a 1-0 advantage.

Another newcomer, Stanley Bright from the Connecticut Jr. Rangers, also scored his first with the Thunder with about five minutes remaining in the second period, pushing the lead to 2-0.

“They are fitting in really well,” Hodge said of Arcaroli and Bright. “It’s good to see those guys on the score sheet because they work hard, and we are happy to have them.”

Hodge said Arcaroli is a power forward and fits perfectly with linemates Pat Last and Cole Roenick. Bright is more of a playmaker.

Roman Wainwright added another insurance goal for Twin City when he beat South Shore goalie Ryan Keyes (29 saves) on the power play early in the third period.

“He caught a rebound and sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good,” Hodge said. “The puck finds you and you are able to score goals.”

The Thunder went 1 for 3 on the man advantage. South Shore went 0 of 1.

James Tatro had a team-high two assists in the game.

After the Kings won the first game of the weekend series, 3-2 on Thursday, the teams meet in a rubber match on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

LEO MANTENUTO HEADING TO YOUNG GUNS GAME

The USPHL announced defenseman Leo Mantenuto is the Twin City Thunder representative for the Young Guns All-Star Game — for 16- and 17-year-old players — at Agganis Arena on the Boston University campus on Jan. 15.

The 17-year-old has a goal and seven assists in 22 games this season.

Hodge and Junior Bruins coach Nevin Hamilton are coaching Mantenuto and the rest of Team New England.

“Leo has had a great year, and he’s just scratching the surface of what he’s going to be as an ’06 (birth year),” Hodge said. “I am excited for him, and I am happy to be a part of it.”
