The North Atlantic Conference announced its women’s and men’s basketball weekly awards Monday, and University of Maine at Farmington players swept the top honors.

UMF women’s basketball junior forward Sarah Poli was selected as the NAC Player of the Week. The former Central Maine Community College athlete averaged 16 points and seven rebounds across two games for the week ending Jan. 7. The Beavers went 1-1 in the games, with Poli securing her third double-double of the season (17 points, 10 rebounds) in a loss to Norwich, then followed that up with 15 points and four rebounds in a win over Lesley.

Will Harriman received conference Player of the Week honors on the men’s side. Also a junior forward, Harriman scored a career-high 30 points and also pulled down nine rebounds in the Beavers’ lone game during the week, a 95-77 win over Dean. Harriman knocked down 10 of 14 shots, including 6 of 7 from behind the 3-point line.

INDOOR TRACK
USM TRIO TAKE LEC HONORS: Three Edward Little graduates, all now competing for University of Southern Maine, received weekly awards from the Little East Conference on Monday.

On the men’s side, junior Jacob Jackson was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week, and freshman Dru Hyndman the Field Rookie of the Week.

Jackson won the high jump at Saturday’s USM Open II with a personal-best height of 1.93 meters. That mark is a conference-best this season and is third-best in the Division III East region.

Hyndman was also a winner Saturday, taking first place in the long jump with a best leap of 6.66 meters. That’s the fourth-farthest mark in the DIII East region this season, and puts Hyndman in the top 10 all-time in USM program history.

On the women’s side, senior Olivia Jalbert also received the Field Athlete of the Week honor. Jalbert was a dual winner Saturday at the USM Open II, placing first in both the high jump (1.57 meters) and long jump (5.22 meters). Both those marks are LEC bests this season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
BATES 87, RIVIER 62: Davina Kabantu and Morgan Kennedy led six Bobcats (12-2) in double figures with 14 points each, as Bates used a 24-10 first-quarter advantage to cruise past the Raiders (4-9) in Lewiston.

Alexandra Long shot 6 of 8 from the field and scored 13 points for Bates. Elsa Daulerio posted 10 points and 12 rebounds while Sarah Hughes and Alyson Kennedy put up 11 points apiece.

Lyric Grumblatt of Rivier led all scorers with 24 points, adding five rebounds and five assists. Alexa Dufries scored 13 and Jessica Carrier added 12.

HUSSON 86, UMF 66: The Eagles (6-7, 3-1 NAC) took control in the second quarter to pull away from the Beavers (4-9, 2-2 NAC) in Farmington.

Bailey Donovan dominated down low for Husson, compiling 32 points and 17 rebounds to go along with six assists and three blocks. Jordyn Lengle added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles, who outscored UMF 21-11 in the second quarter after leading just 19-11 after the first.

Jessica Dow scored a team-high 20 points for the Beavers, Sarah Poli put up a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Grace Dwyer delivered 11 points.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
HUSSON 88, UMF 80: Riles Neff scored a game-high 27 points, including converting 8 of 10 free throws, as the Eagles (13-1, 5-0 NAC) pushed past the rival Beavers (8-5, 2-2 NAC) in a North Atlantic Conference clash in Farmington.

Neff also compiled seven rebounds, four assists and a block as he stuffed the scorebook. Andre McCauley and Scott Lewis added 13 points apiece for Husson, which trailed 44-40 at halftime.

Will Harriman paced UMaine-Farmington with 17 points, Simon Chadbourne scored 16, Jordan Anthony 14, Brock Flagg 12 and Dylan Griffin 10.
