DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the Jan. 5 Sun Spots regarding Lewiston Strong T-shirts, etc., I was in Topsham at Day’s Jewelers with my granddaughter who requested a Lewiston Strong pendant. There are two styles, one being a pricier gold outline of the State of Maine.

She wanted the silver one as it has a little free motion heart over Lewiston. To my advantage, it was quite a bit less costly. It will be her 11th birthday gift.

We then went to Sherman’s Books and they had a similar necklace in inexpensive costume jewelry but it is still very nice.

We all want to show our support for our dear neighbors any way we can. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: I saw those necklaces you mention while I was out holiday shopping and they are all excellent choices for those who would rather have something they can wear all the time.

At The Nest, a store in Brunswick, I also came upon key chains that are small wooden green cutouts with an embossed heart over Lewiston. I bought a few for family members’ Christmas stockings and they loved them.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the reader looking for someone to “top off” her chimney, I recommend contacting Jason Hodsdon at 215-3557 or jasonhodsdonmasonry@gmail.com.

He installed a chimney cap for us last summer and, while on the roof, noticed and voluntarily repaired some shoddy work done by another company during a previous chimney liner installation. He was fast, efficient, and ended up charging us less than his initial estimate despite the added work. I recommend him highly for any chimney-related work! — Cindy, Lewiston

ANSWER: This recommendation is in response to the Jan. 5 Sun Spots. Thank you, Cindy, for getting this information to us so quickly! You are on the ball.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A friend told me about Wilderness Miracles in Bowdoin where they rehabilitate hurt and sick wild animals. They always need items for the animals’ care and feeding and have a wish list.

If you have towels, blankets, cat and dog toys, and pet carriers that you are no longer using, bring them here.

The organization also needs fresh fruit and vegetables, kitty litter, heating pads, bleach, trash bags, antibacterial hand soap, antibacterial hand sanitizer, paper towels, Lysol wipes, laundry soap, dish detergent, puppy and kitten food, and Pedialyte. — Grace, no town

ANSWER: Wilderness Miracles does a beautiful job taking care of injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife that they then return as a healthy animal back to the wild.

You can find a complete wish list and a link to the Amazon Wish List here: https://www.wildernessmiracles.org/wishlist. They also need volunteers.

The number is 720-0074 or email WildernessMiracles@yahoo.com.
