AUBURN – Gilbert Emile Ringuette, 76, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on April 12, 1947, a son to William Ringuette and Marie Cyr. Gilbert was born and raised in TWP 17 R4 and attended local schools.

He stayed close to home even in his working years, spending over 25 years working for the City of Lewiston in Building Maintenance. In 2011, Gilbert retired in 2011 and spent much of that time with his longtime friend Guy Nadeau. He also enjoyed spending time going for walks with his new friend Barbara Robitalle. They walked and talked almost every single day in the summer months. He also really enjoyed collecting music, with help from his co worker friends Lorraine Bard and Janet Labbe.

Gilbert was a friendly guy and could put a smile on everybody he encountered. He is loved dearly and will be missed by many.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Gilbert leaves behind Rita Caron of Lisbon, his brothers, Roger Ringuette of Lisbon, Roland Ringuette of Lisbon, Bert Ringuette and wife Kim of Winthrop, Louis Ringuette and wife Linda of Lewiston and Patrick Ringuette and wife Susan Blair of Auburn. He also leaves behind his half sister Susan Demule of Lewiston as well as many nieces and nephews.

Per his request, there will be no services at this time.
