Normand A. Lemay
LEWISTON – Normand A. Lemay, 92, of 234 Lincoln Street, Lewiston, died at his home on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024. Born in Lewiston on July 4, 1931, he was the son of Wilfrid J. and Marie Anne Beauchesne Lemay. Educated locally, he was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, class of ‘49. After graduation, Norm joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Radio Operator during the Korean War. He returned to Lewiston after his service and married the love of his life, the former Jeanne d’Arc Chouinard, on Nov. 27, 1954. Jeanne passed away on April 3, 2010. He was employed for many years as a Lab Supervisor at the Bates Fabrics, and then spent 19 years at Shaw’s in Lewiston, fully retiring at the age of 82. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #106, fourth degree, and the Wallace Assembly 338 Commander Honor Guard. He was a former member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), and the American Society for Quality Control (ASQC), Horizon 55 and Covenant 50, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at the former St. Louis Church in Auburn. Norm enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and in his younger years enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and especially enjoyed traveling with his wife.
Survivors include two sons, Paul and wife Rita of Lewiston, and Marcel and wife Cathy of Poland, a daughter, Lucille Hall of Lewiston, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Bertram. Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a service at Holy Family Church, 1 p.m. Interment in the spring, Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.
