Peggyann Cummings

LEWISTON – Peggyann “Peggy” Cummings was a devoted mother, grandmother, and loving wife. She passed away peacefully receiving hospice care and surrounded by family in Auburn, on Dec. 27, 2023, age 79.

Peggy was born to Jennifer Verrill and Frederick Hall on Feb. 6, 1944, in Portland. Peggy worked as a talented seamstress for many years. She also worked at Supreme Slippers and Royal River Fish Factory. She was previously a member of the Women’s Auxillary in Mechanic Falls, and taught Sunday School in the Lewsiton/Auburn area.

Peggy had a strong and passionate love for all animals. She had many different types of pets throughout her life. She spent many years rescuing ferrets, and regularly donated her money to the ASPCA. She leaves behind two dogs and two cats that she adored.

Peggy was predeceased by her mother, Jennifer Verrill; father, Frederick Hall; and siblings, Harold Larrabee, Frederick Hall, Arthur Hall, Violet Rose, Dorothy Hall, Jeanette Hinkley, Janice Godwin, Henry Hall, Caroline Jean Egnew, and Shirley Verrill.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Clifton Cummings; daughter, Sharon Towle; grandson, Matthew Towle and his wife, Sierra Frost; grandson Roy Towle Jr. and his wife Nicole Towle; two great grandchildren Bentley Towle and Arianna Towle; her dogs and cats, Bella, Chloe, Patches, and Abby; and dozens of nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held for Peggy at Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church in Mechanic Falls on Jan. 13, 2024 at 10 a.m.
