HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society building, which is at least 230 years old, was damaged Monday night when a car struck it.

The crash occurred about 10 p.m. and took out all but one of the support posts holding up the roof over the porch of the former schoolhouse, society President Jim MacDonald said. The roof is hanging precariously over the porch.

“We can’t use the front door,” he said.

MacDonald said a bunch of photos off were knocked off a display rack, and three picture frames were broken.

The building at 358 Paris Road was moved to its present location across from the Town Office in 1893. The society had been renovating the interior of the building to give visitors a better experience.

According to the society’s latest newsletter, the building is at least 230 years old.

The amount of the damage was not immediately known, MacDonald said.

MacDonald said he was told by authorities that the driver was not injured in the crash.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and the Hebron Fire Department were not available for comment Tuesday.
