AUBURN — The Auburn School Committee chair updated committee members about the superintendent search, along with a community survey asking people what they would like to see in a superintendent. The School Committee is also accepting letters of interest from the public for those interested in serving on the search committee.

People can let search committee members know what they would like to see for expertise and strengths in a new superintendent on the community survey, Committee Chair Pamela Albert said. The survey is available until Jan. 26 on the school department’s website.

The School Committee has added three new people to the Superintendent Search Committee, all administrators from the elementary level to the high school, according to Pamela Albert. It is accepting letters of interest to serve on the committee from members of the public until Jan. 26.

Those letters can be sent directly to Albert via email at palbert@auburnschl.edu. The Search Committee will accept up to three community members to serve on the committee, along with three staff members.

Committee members will review superintendent applicants and participate in the first round of interviews on March 2, Albert said. The second round of interviews will be done by the full School Committee on March 16. The first search committee workshop is Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

Superintendent Cornelia Brown submitted her resignation, effective after the end of the current school year, last September. She started her position as Auburn superintendent on July 1, 2020.
