Rita M. Bartlett

CANTON – Rita M. Bartlett, 92, died Sunday January 14, 2024, at the Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Canton. She was a resident of Roxbury Road in Mexico.

Rita was born in Newark, New Jersey on April 14, 1931, and was a daughter of Joesph and Elizabeth (Saltzman) Sheldrick. She was a graduate of St Cecilia’s high School in New Jersey. She was a volunteer at Meroby elementary school for over 25 years. Known as “Gram Rita”, she followed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in their activities. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. Her mittens were cherished by many.

Rita was married in Kearny, New Jersey on March 10, 1952, to Earl C. Bartlett, Jr who died in Lewiston, ME on July 24, 1994.

She is survived by her daughters, Lois Notte and husband Daniel of Rutherford, NJ and Rosemary Gagnon and husband Paul of Rumford, a son, David Bartlett and wife Debbie of Saco, a sister Lois Hughes and husband Bob of New Jersey, a brother Tom Sheldrick and wife Arlene of New Jersey, grandchildren, Brian Gagnon and wife Malinda, Aaron Gagnon and wife Kim, Kevin Gagnon and wife Katie, Kayla Bartlett and Matt, Christopher Notte and wife Felicia, great-grandchildren, Meredith Gagnon, Olivia Dunham, Sophia Dunham, Molly Gagnon, Paige Gagnon, and Riley Gagnon. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Joseph Sheldrick, and sister Anne Richardson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday May 18, 2024, at the Parish of The Holy Savior St Athanasius St John Church 126 Maine Ave, Rumford, ME. Interment will be in St John Cemetery in Rumford.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, ME.
