Western Foothills Land Trust’s winter programs are set to begin Saturday, Jan. 20.

Located in western Maine, the trust’s programs and events aim to offer a perfect blend of outdoor excitement, skill-building, and community engagement, including Nordic ski clinics, biathlon races, family friendly ski days, and moonlit snowshoe excursions. Most programs are free, but participants need to RSVP.

Activities will take place at Roberts Farm Preserve, 58 Roberts Road, Norway, unless noted. Registration is required, to signup visit wfltmaine.org,unless an additional website is proided.

Skijor Clinic and Race, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 20.

Cost is $15 per team.

Biathlon Clinic & Race, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21.

Cost is $15 for adults, and $5 for students.

Full-moon snowshoe to Hawk Mountain, 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, atHawk Mountain Road, Waterford.

Bring a headlamp, traction or snowshoes for the free event. Email info@wfltmaine.org if you need to borrow snowshoes or to register.

Mellie Dunham Contra Dance & Community Supper, 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Norway Grange, Whitman Street, Norway.

Dinner at 4 p.m. put on by Fare Share Co Op & Alan Day Community Garden with dance to follow at 6 p.m. Tickets will go on sale in mid-January.

14th annual Snowshoe Festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17.

This race and festival features kids’ 2K, 5K and 10K snowshoe race options.

Cost is $20 for adults and $5 for youth. To register visit runsignup.com.

This year the festival will host its first Snowshoe Festival Chili Contest featuring downtown Norway’s restaurants and cafes. Suggested donation of $5 per person to try the chili entries. Sledding party, noon Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Shepard’s Farm Preserve, 121 Crockett Ridge Road, Norway.

A February vacation tradition, sponsored by Norway Brewing Company. Bring sleds; warm drinks and popcorn are provided.
